SEVEN HILLS HOSPITAL
New construction of a 40-bed inpatient building and outpatient building. All phases were completed simultaneously on an existing campus.
Seven Hills was a campus expansion at the existing Seven Hills Hospital completed in April 2016. The campus expansion consisted of a brand new inpatient building, outpatient building and a renovation of the existing kitchen. The inpatient and outpatient buildings
required an extensive amount of site work to accommodate the amount of caliche underground and grading challenges with
multiple elevations of roadways and buildings within a small footprint.
ALPA and the design team coordinated with a gravity base redi-block system in order to retain the soil in a tight footprint. The retaining wall could not step back as they are typically done due to the lack of space. Instead we needed to stack the redi-block to ensure the retaining wall did not interfere with the outpatient building foundations. Site work was done with GPS based equipment with the existing grade laser scanned in order to create the varying elevations and eliminate waste on excavation and the use of less backfill.
ALPA was able to complete the Seven Hills Campus Expansion within the project budget and without any additional change orders
for sitework or caliche. ALPA was able to assess the site,
sitework and create a plan that optimized our options and execute without any additional unforeseen conditions. Through extensive pre-planning, overtime and lean construction principles the inpatient building was complete and opened in the February 2016, while the outpatient building was complete April 2016, one month ahead of schedule.
